[blindlaw] bulk scanners

Hey Tie,
Did you already purchase a new computer for fall? I was curious what you
got.
If I were you I'd wait until next year and apply to a bunch more schools
back East. In the meantime, you could go sneak in on a couple classes at
your local law school. Just tell them you are thinking about going to law
school and wanted to sit in on a few first year courses. If you contact the
professors directly from the school's website they'll probably be more than
happy to let you attend class. Additionally, if you spend some time over
the next year reviewing bar prep materials for first year courses you will
be way ahead of the game when you actually start your first year.
best wishes,
Tim Elder

Deborah and Dennis,

This is the exact software and scanner configuration that Angie Matney is
using in law school and her law book scans come out better than the versions
she receives from the publishers. I think this Fujitsu is the way to go. I
plan to purchase this for law school as well. I'm still trying to decide
whether I am going to start this Fall or next fall. I was accepted and have
paid my seat deposit at the University of Utah but I'm just not sure yet.
I'm thinking of waiting until next year and applying to a bunch more schools
back East.

Tai

Hello Debra,
Congratulations on law school. Which school will you be attending? I would
recommend the Fujitsu FI 5220C. It is a duplex scanner so when you put
pages in the document feeder, it scans both sides at once. It also has a
flatbed, and the Fujitsu flatbed is the fastest in the business. As I
recall, the document feeder scans 25 pages per minute, or 50 per minute when
in duplex mode.
I would also recommend ABBYY Finereader version 8 OCR software. It is
outstanding, and works well with the Fujitsu scanners. Please let me know
if I can provide any additional information.
Best regards,
Dennis

Hello all,

I'm getting ready to start law school and I'm planning to request a bulk
scanner. I'm wondering if any of you have advice on which bulk scanners you

do or do not recommend and for what reasons?
Thanks,
Deborah Byrne
