Depends upon the version of JAWS. Look at your JAWS help. But a
reinstall would do the same thing.

    Hello list,
Hopefully, someone will have a simple solution to this annoying
  problem.
More frequently than I would like, JAWS has stopped working for
  certain
features of certain programs. For example, when in Outlook, JAWS
will
stop recognizing what is in the inbox. The arrows still move the
  cursor
up and down the list of emails (or so my wife tells me), but it
reads
nothing. However, JAWS is still on as evidenced by pressing ins + t
  to
    read the window title.
The only way I can get it to work is to dump JAWS (ins +f4) and then
restart JAWS again. After restarting JAWS, the problem might
reoccur
    within seconds.
Secondly, when I am reviewing a document in Word, the JAWS program
  will
begin to stop recognizing the text when reading line by line.
  Usually,
reading by paragraph (ctr + down arrow) will read the entire
  paragraph,
but I am unable to read by line or by word or character. When
trying
  to
read by line or word or character, the screen reader reads "blank."
Again, dumping JAWS and restarting will sometimes fix the problem
    temporarily but not always.
I am running JAWS 7.0 at home and JAWS 6.0 at work (the work
computer
has the issues in Word only). The work computer has JAWS
  Professional,
    and home has the standard.
This began happening only recently and is quite frustrating when
drafting or reviewing a timely contract.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Craig
