[blindlaw] OT JAWS Acting Funky

Hi Craig -

I would add to what everyone else has already said two comments:

First, the insert-escape key refreshes the screen without having to dump
JAWS and then restart it. If that doesn't work, then yes, keep doing what
you've been doing.
Second, the newer versions of JAWS have helped that problem - so although
upgrading will help, it won't solve it altogether.

I have the latest version of JAWS and I still have that problem.

And yes, what you experience in MS Outlook happens to me all of the time -
in my office we use outlook for everything. Yep, I have that same trouble.

I would go on to add just one more thing - JAWS 7.0 had a lot of issues that
newer versions fixed - so although upgrading won't completely solve the
trouble, it will help out quite a bit.

Its that old "Forced to upgrade whether you like it or not" situation.
I'm sure your office, like mine, tries to stay current and by doing so tends
to force assistaive software upgrades simply by being effecient. I'm the
first to admit it is a pain in the neck - but a necessary evil of practicing
law these days.

By the way, has anyone on the list managed to get a successful remote access
installation of JAWS running with ease? I'm going up to JAWS PRO soon and am
goiing to see if we can get the remote access function to work.
Of course, the server will need to rebooted after this sort of thing is
done - and I can tell you that this particular component of installation
strikes fear in the heart of our I.T. person. We all have had experiences
with quirks of JAWS in netwowrk aplications that aren't exactly covered in
help materials from time to time.
So, if anyone has had experience with that and has any advice not contained
in the JAWS help materials, I'd like to hear from you off list if possible.

Thanks.

Ross
