[blindlaw] OT JAWS Acting Funky

I too have had this problem, and as noted below, often times the
quickest solution is to exit and re-start JAWS. I have had a bit less
of this problem with JAWS 8.

>From what I have noticed, the problem seems to be related to the version
of Microsoft Office you have, which then determines what version of Word
and Outlook you have. JAWS simply worked better with certain versions
of Office/Word/Outlook,, since I have different versions on my work and
home computers, and JAWS acts differently on the two machines. Also, I
think there are problems when you take a Word document prepared in a
later version of Office and open it on an older/previous version of
Word.

If the above information seems to relate to the problems you are having,
you can always uninstall the "bad" version of Office and install the
version that works more reliably.

Another option you may try with a newer version of Word that is acting
up is to do a "save as" and picking the prior version option. In my
Word 2003, that option is down near the bottom of the "save as" formats,
after plain text.

Please understand that I am no computer tecky, and my observations may
be totally off base, so I will appreciate any correct information that
you more computer savvy folks may have.

I have the same problem, but with jaws 8.0. Mine only occurs after the
computer has been hibernating, on standby, or asleep. Restarting always
fixes it.
