cast on Fair Housing

Barbara Chandler with Adaptive Environments will present the Web cast
"An Overview of Federal Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988." on
Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 3:00pm Eastern; 2:00pm Central; 1:00pm
Mountain; 12:00pm Pacific; 11:00am Alaska; 9:00am Hawaii.

This Web cast will give an overview of the federal Fair Housing
Amendments Act of 1988. The FHAA protects civil rights in housing for
persons with disabilities and other groups.  FHAA provisions such as
covered service/practices, reasonable accommodation, reasonable
modification plus the design and construction requirements will be
discussed. Other fair 
housing issues of interest will be scoping/coverage, terms and condition

plus disparate impacts.

Barbara Chandler is the Housing Program Director for Adaptive
Environments. She manages the Fair Housing Accessibility First Design
and Construction Resource Center (DCRC) a nationwide service that
provides technical assistance on compliance with the federal Fair
Housing Act requirements. 
Ms. Chandler has advocated for persons with disabilities, elders,
victims 
of domestic violence and low-income families for twenty-five years. She 
was formerly the Policy Analyst for the City of Boston Office of Civil 
Rights, where she dealt with fair housing, disability and civil rights 
issues. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the 
University of Mass: Dartmouth. She did her graduate studies in the 
field of sociology at Indiana State University.
