Has anyone done research on the best canes out there, considering
durability, cost, and weight? I'd like to hear what people's experiences
are.

There is another vendor you may want to check with before making a final
decision.

Innovative Rehabilitation Technology Inc. (IRTI) is a company that
specializes in the type of equipment you are talking about, and they have
been in business for many years. I have always had good luck with their
products, including their 4 track machines. You can call them at:

800-322-4784

Or of course visit their web site at:
http://irti.net/

And no, I do not get any commission from them!

I think the Professor from Telex has most of what you want. I know it has
am/fm and plays daisy CD's, and I believe it has a cassette player in it
too.

portable units and place it in the boom box. Before going to this extreme,
does anyone know where I might purchase the type of 4 track player I have
described above? I'm sure if there is one already on the market, it will
save me time and uncertainty to buy a unit already designed and tested. It
may also have a speech compression mode for faster reading. Any help in my
search is greatly appreciated.
