Everett,
I took the LSAT in October of 2000, and I had an acceptable experience
with it. I am totally blind since age 21, half way through undergrad.
To prepare, I took the Kaplan course, which included class time and
practice tests. My class time was spent in the large class setting, and
the instructor was very descriptive in his explanation of the logical
reasoning and logic game sections. Practice tests were taken under the
same testing conditions that were approved -- double time with a reader.
I tried to have my Kaplan reader approved for the LSAT, but that didn't
fly.
I was very lucky with the reader I received. The test went very
smoothly, and I scored higher on the real test than I had on all
practice tests (157).
Don't practice entire tests at first; start out with a page of a
specific section. Kaplan was very good about discussing how much time
to spend on a single page or question, which I merely doubled. My wife
helped with practice at home by timing our practice on a single page and
then going back and checking my answers against the explanation given in
the book. (Kaplan supplies a phone book size practice book containing
all released questions)
I hope that this helps; good luck!
Craig

Subject: [blindlaw] LSAT Preparation (new member)

Good evening,

My name is Everett Zufelt and I am writing from New Brunswick, Canada.
I am 26-years-old, recently completely blind and do not know braille. I
am excited about writing the LSAT in September, but was reading some
disappointing articles today online about LSAC's accommodation for the
blind.

Can anyone tell me what their recent personal experience, or experience
of another you know, is with writing the LSAT as a blind test-taker?
Any suggestions for preparing for / performing well on the analytical
sections of the test?

Thanks for any responses,
Everett
