Ronza,
I couldn't agree with you more!  The AHEAD paper is well thought out and
a positive step, I think, as we fight to assure access for students to
materials used in their higher education endeavors.

The NFB is committed to addressing this issue.  In our Washington
Seminar, we have included higher ed access proposals in each of the last
two years, and once again expect to do so.  I am glad that AHEAD (the
DSS offices for the most part at institutions of higher education have
finally really weighed in and publicly said that their students have a
right to accessible material and that they (as institutions with
disabled students) have an obligation to assure that it is provided.

Ronza is right about the logical well-crafted arguments in this paper.

I'm forwarding an email I got on another list.  It concerns access to
educational materials at the post-secondary level.  The position paper
the  message references is quite well-drafted.  This is an issue many of
the  student organizations hope the NFB will address at Washington
Seminar.  In  any event, I'm asking you each to consider how we can get
similar legislation  passed in our individual states.  Bottom line:
college students need to be  able to get their textbooks promptly in a
format they can use, and the law needs  to make that happen.
