Hi all --
Since the late 90s when I lost my ability to read on my old CCTV's, I have
been hanging onto my old equipment just to test my vision in the event I
could someday read print again, but alas, I doubt that will happen any time
soon. Also, my family and I are moving soon, and I am looking for someone to
give (yes, give) my old equipment to, in hopes someone else can use it. I
have 3 CCTV's, 2 black and white and one color. The 2 B&W sets are VTEK
Voyagers purchased in the 1980s, and the color set is one of the first color
CCTV's sold for low vision use.
A caveat: the Voyagers have old fashioned vidicon tube technology in the
cameras, which is now way out of date as everything now uses chip cameras.
The result is that once the cameras go, the equipment is junk and can't be
repaired.
But both units do still work well and in fact got me through grad school and
12 years of employment and beyond, and should still be of use if you are
looking for a low vision aid.
If you know someone who you think would like this stuff, please send email
to lauraeaves at yahoo.com -- If I have to ship it I would like reimbursement
for shipping cost. Otherwise the stuff is free, although if I donate it to
an institution, I would like some kind of receipt for tax purposes.
I would be very happy if someone needing this type of equipment could take
it off my hands. It was a life saver for me in my younger days and I think
it could benefit someone else with moderate vision loss.
Thanks in advance and have a great week!
