Why did you go with a manual rather than a power chair? Just curious.

Hi Holly,

I did use a powerchair, and am now using a manual one with a one arm
drive system on it. One of the wheels has 2 rims, so you can steer both
wheels with one hand. I can not use a cane however, so I'm always in the
good company of my guidedog Beau. My cane, yes, when Beau is free on the
grass, I do have a cane, is also a long one.

The one arm drive is particularly good when you have enough strength in
your arms. A powerchair is the other option. I learned to ride very
slowly in the beginning when i was on my own. Wit sighted assistance we
often "walked" hand in hand. When I could do that and follow my guide,
Beau came in. imagining myself with a baby I would still use a manual
chair. It fits in everywhere and I would always have one arm for him or
her and the other to drive.

Best regards Petra
