Hello Sasha,
Whenever I use my wheelchair I just go ahead when I'm inside a building. I have to listen to other people walking, in case there's a flight of stairs ahead. I don't want to get too close to any stairs and suddenly find that I cannot stop! If have a long folding cane that I carry. I stop to search the area in front of me. Once, I failed to check thoroughly, and rolled forward down a few steps. I think a one-handed chair would cause problems for me, because I can't go fast.
