[Blind-rollers] "Hemmy"?

Hello all! and happy holidays!
Mike's request for info on a light weight chair prompts a question of my 
own:  First, I recently got a new light weight chair called a "hemmy" 
(perhaps spelled wrong).  Since I'm not the one who lifts it into the car, I 
don't know how much it weighs, but my mother says it is much lighter than my 
old manual chair -- and in fact, I got the new chair as much for her sake as 
mine.  It is a nice chair except for one nit: the brakes work in the 
opposite direction from the brakes on my old chair, and in fact from all the 
chairs I have ever used.  In short, pushing forward unlocks the brake and 
vice versa, instead of locking them.  While I pride myself at having good 
spatial skills and feel I can remember which way to push the brake lever, 
there is always the fear that I -- or my reflexes -- will forget and unlock 
when I need to lock, and vice versa.  This could obviously have dire 
consequences, and almost has led to disaster already.
Does anyone else have a hemmy? and is it alone at locking the brakes in 
reverse?
