[Blind-rollers] Colisions

Well, in my case it wasn't rudeness--i always was quite apologetic, and
indeed my manual chair does not make much noise. It makes me wonder how
many sighted employees jumped out of my way and I didn't even know it.
When I was in school and still able to walk I collided with another blind
person twice. One of these was when we were walking down the same sidewalk
in opposite directions--thinking back, I think he was on the wrong side as I
stayed to the right).
Anyway, I was able to see a tiny bit and his body came in view--looked like
a big nondescript mass-and I assumed this person would see my white cane and
step to one side, but indeed he proceeded to our collision with full speed
and by the time I knew he was blind there was no way to avoid it.
Since I have brittle bones I was quite afraid of fractures, and should not
have been walking at that time on campus. But you know college--if you want
to get something done you gotta take risks.
Anyway, I finally fell down a flight of stairs on a later occasion and
totaled myself and took an early graduation and quit school for a few
months. Then went back in the wheelchair for good, and managed to be
independent by hiring people to help when I needed it, and using paratransit
to get around.
Well, enough of that. The adventures of hiring aids I'm sure you are
familiar with.
That is funny about your dogs. Guess wheelchair people can be rude like the
rest of the population, but they can't always afford to be rude as we all
never know when we need a hand... Were your dogs ever tresspassing in his
personal space (around his apartment that is)?
Just a thought.
Really inconsiderate upsetting someone's guide dog.
Take care.

Well speeding down a path shouldn't happen at a work place.
I am sure your chair made some kind of noise, and I would have said hello.
but out of kindness both of you should have stopped until the other one got
by.
I lived in a building with wheel chair persons,
One guy kept trying to hit my dogs paws with his chair.
I picked him up out of the chair and sat him on the ground.
I tell you the adrenalin was moving that day.
He sat on the ground for a half hour before anyone picked him up.
He never went after my dogs again.
I was waiting for him to take me to court, and I would have stood up for my
dog.
there is no excuse for rudeness.
