The fourth international conference on tactile diagrams, maps and pictures.
Hosted by
RNIB Centre for Accessible Information
About the Conference
This international event brings together a wide range of people involved
in the design, production, procurement, use and support of tactile
graphics.
This will include transcribers and designers, end-users, educators,
mobility officers, disability support staff, researchers, technology
developers and printers, cartographers, arts and heritage organisations,
government and public bodies, access consultants, rehabilitation
workers, architects, building contractors, and signage companies, among
others.
Previous conferences have attracted people from all over the world
interested in discussing every aspect of tactile graphics, and this
year’s conference promises to be even bigger and better than previous
events.
All abstracts will be reviewed by members of the conference Content
Group which is made up of industry experts from around the world with
diverse areas of expertise. The Content Group will review all abstracts
based on the relevance to the conference, contribution to the industry,
clarity of writing and originality of work. Abstracts recommended by the
Content Group will then be invited to participate in the conference.
Presentations
If you would like to share your work, experience or research at the
conference we are seeking abstracts for conference presentations and
exhibitions (see next section).
Conference presentations have a 40-minute slot, for a 30 minute
presentation and 10 minutes for questions. Presentations can be aimed at
any experience level, but should have little or no audience
participation other than questions. Conference presentations will run on
4 and 5 December 2008 at Jurys Inn, Birmingham.
You may submit more than one abstract where you wish to present on
different topics, or different types of presentation. Please complete a
separate form for each contribution.
We welcome submissions on any topic relating to tactile graphics,
particularly those with an applied focus, including, but not limited to:
