Exhibition: Great Master Of Sculpture Rodin In Istanbul
ISTANBUL - The exhibition "Great Master of Sculpture Rodin in Istanbul"
will be inaugurated at Istanbul's Sakip Sabanci Museum tomorrow.
Museum's curator Nazan Olcer told a news conference today that a total
of 203 sculptures of Auguste Rodin will be displayed in Istanbul on loan
from the 'Musee Rodin' in Paris.
"Rodin's monument to leading writer and thinker Victor Hugo has
temporarily replaced the bronze horse sculpture in the garden of the
museum," she said.
"Documentaries and films will also be shown at the museum about life and
works of Rodin. Also, we will allow our visually impaired visitors to
touch some of the sculptures," she added.
Meanwhile, Jacques Vilain, curator of 'Musee Rodin' in Paris, described
the exhibition as "important and extraordinary".
The exhibition will remain open till September 3rd.
Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) who brought monumental public sculptures into
the modern era, was considered one of the greatest sculptors of all
time. Many of his work are famous throughout the world, such as 'The Man
with the Broken Nose', 'Saint John the Baptist', 'The Kiss' and probably
the most famous of them all 'The Thinker'.
