A PICTURE book for blind children has been launched in Swindon.
The book, including raised "feely" pictures, is a Braille adaptation of
Hairy Maclary Sit! by Lynley Dodd.
It is produced by Living Paintings, a national charity supported by
volunteers.
It aims to supply touch and sound books to blind and partially sighted
people. The launch took place at Asda Walmart at the Orbital Shopping Park.
The books are distributed through a free postal library service.
A spokesperson for the trust said: "The Living Paintings Trust opens up the
joys of the world of the arts and other varied subjects to visually impaired
people.
"To do this it uses unique and innovative combinations of sound and touch
which are both exciting and stimulating."
The trust manufactures a number of touch and sound materials which are
specially designed for visually impaired adults and children.
