My Fellow Federationists,
On Tuesday July 1st from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Period Room,
Atrium Mezzanine,

the new Living History Group will have our first official
meeting. The purpose of the Living History Group is:

  1. Collect material related to the history of the National
Federation of the Blind told in the words and voices of those who
lived it through recordings of NFB events, one-on-one interviews of
key figures in the movement, media interviews, and other material in
an audio or video format.

2. Collect and post for online listening or viewing recordings of
past NFB events of all kinds. These will include national state and
local chapter activities.

3. Develop a Web resource where these materials can be accessed by
those researching the history and development of the organized blind
movement and the National Federation of the Blind and to serve as a
living historical record of the blind to win first class citizenship
in society.

Please come and discuss with us these important issues of preserving
our rich recorded history, adding to the collection and making it as
available as possible.

I would also, like to mention, if you have an event during the
convention you would like recorded, please contact me at
<mailto:mfreholm at unbridledaccess.com>mfreholm at unbridled
access<mailto:mfreholm at unbridledaccess.com>.com or call (especially
after Friday, as I will not be checking my e-mail as often) at 859-608-2470.

Looking forward to our family reunion next week!!

Kind Regards,

Michael K. Freholm

Chairperson, Living History Group
