    Hello Gabe:

Several things come to mind. First, there is no legislation in terms of
accomodating parents. However, that is not to say that the class room
teacher will not work with you in good faith. Second, if you haven't
already, take charge and provide the tape player yourself. A very simple
electronic memo pad will work best--push a button to record, push a
button
the stop. Third, arrange with the teacher to volunteer your time several
days in the class room. This will allow you to understand how the
teacher
operates and what this teacher is expecting out of the students. Fourth,
today most teachers will set up an assignment calendar in which the
students' parents are required to sign off on daily. These calendars are
generally produced via a computer. Have the teacher send you the
electronic
file. Fifth, get a copy of your daughter's school books. You can scan
them
for your purposes or hire a reader and take notes on the curriculum.
Sixth,
most teachers are very systematic. Once you figure out one week the
rest are
the same. Seventh, now a days most adopted curriculum textbooks have
on-line
activites will will give you a pretty good idea of lessons. Eighth, meet
with other parents several times after school and have a group home work
time. This too will help your understanding of what is expected.

Good luck.
