Hello all,
A number of you have expressed interest in going to Big Surf,
which is located at 1500 N. McClintock Dr. and should thus be accessible by
the 81 bus line. Big Surf is open daily from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. General
admission is $24/person, although we may be able to negotiate a group rate
if our group is large enough.
Before deciding on a date, let's consider that July 21 and
August 18 both fall on meetings of our East Valley chapter. August 4 falls
on the meeting of the Phoenix chapter, and Aug. 25 may or may not conflict
with the meetings of the West Valley chapter. If we want to have the event
on a Saturday before Aug. 25, we will inevitably be conflicting with a
chapter meeting. However, if we do want to hold this in the East Valley, I'd
propose doing it on Aug. 4 so as to not pull our East Valley members away
from their local chapter meeting. Thoughts?
We're not set on Big Surf yet, either-if anyone wants to
advocate for Sunsplash, it's accessible by Route 61 (Southern) which does
appear to stretch into Phoenix as well. I haven't been to Big Surf, but my
impression is that it is bigger and has a greater ride selection than
Sunsplash. Waterworld appears not to be near any bus lines.
Please state your preferences soon so we can reach a decision by
the weekend. I appreciate everyone's prompt and enthusiastic replies!
Cheers
Arielle
