Do you want to help support the Jernigan Institute?
You've probably already seen announcements about the NFB March
for Independence, but in case you forgot, here's a cool new way to raise
money for the NFB Imagination Fund!
On July 3, 2007 (the opening day of the 2007 national
convention), thousands of Federationists and friends will be marching
through downtown Atlanta to symbolize all that we have achieved and our
struggles to gain independence and civil rights! All the marchers have
pledged to raise at least $250 for the Imagination Fund. One-fourth of all
proceeds is divided evenly between all of our state affiliates, and the rest
is used to fund special state projects and Jernigan Institute initiatives
like the Youth Slam, KNFB Reader, senior fairs, mentoring programs and other
things.
Supporting the march is easier than ever with new technology
that allows marchers to set up their own Web pages. If you register for the
march (even if you won't actually be at convention), you can easily set up a
Web page and send your family and friends emails requesting donations. They
can then support you just by going to your personal page! I was reluctant at
first to go through the effort of setting up my page, but the process was
quick and easy and I was able to raise $700 in just a few weeks!
To register and get a login for your personal page, call Kristy
Bowman at the national office
(410-659-9314)
You can also support the march directly by making a tax-deductible donation
to my personal page! Support me and my awesome march team by going to
