The Adelante! U.S. Education Leadership Fund sets itself apart from other 
programs by its combination
of financial assistance and leadership training for the workplace. Adelante 
provides $1,200 and $3,000
annual scholarships to deserving Hispanic college students. Applicants must 
be college juniors attending
a Hispanic-serving institution with a 3.0 GPA, pursuing a degree in a 
business-related field. Selected

The Hispanic College Fund, in partnership with Allfirst, offers a 
scholarship program designed to help
promising young students reach their full potential and ultimately

American Architectural Foundation (AAF)-Minority/Disadvantaged Scholarship
The American Architectural Foundation awards scholarships to minority or 
disadvantaged high school
seniors and college freshmen who plan to study architecture in an 
NAAB-accredited program.
Scholarship awards range from $500 to $2,500. Twenty awards per year are

The George A. Strait Minority Scholarship is awarded annually to college

Selected Professions Fellowships are awarded to women who intend to pursue a

American Bar Association (ABA)-Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund
The Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund, established within the Fund for 
Justice and Education, is
intended to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to attend law 
school and to provide financial
assistance to those in need. The Scholarship Fund awards $5,000 of financial 
assistance annually to each
scholarship recipient attending an ABA-accredited law school. Assuming the 
recipient achieves
satisfactory performance in law school, an award made to an entering 
freshman may be renewed for two
additional years, resulting in financial assistance totaling $15,000 during 
his or her time in law school.
Applicants must be minority U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a 2.5 
GPA who will be starting law
school in the fall. For 2003-2004, twenty scholarships will be awarded.

American Chemical Society-Scholars Program
The American Chemical Society sponsors a scholarship program designed to 
encourage Hispanic,
African-American, and American Indian students to pursue undergraduate 
college degrees in the chemical
sciences and chemical technology. The goal of the scholarship program is to 
aid in building an awareness
of the value and rewards associated with careers in science and to assist 
students in acquiring the skills
and credentials needed for success in these areas. The scholarships are 
awarded on the basis of merit and
financial need to high school seniors planning a science preparatory program 
of study, and college
students who are currently freshmen, sophomores, or juniors who are 
committed to the study of
chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or other chemically related 
fields such as environmental
science, materials science, or toxicology and are interested in pursuing 
careers in one of these fields.
Students interested in two-year chemical technology programs and careers in 
this field are also eligible.
Students must have strong academic records and show an interest in, and 
potential for, careers in the

chemical sciences. The amount of each individual award depends upon the 
availability of funding, the

The AICPA Scholarships for Minority Accounting Students provide competitive 
awards to outstanding
full-time undergraduate minority students at regionally accredited 
institutions to encourage their selection
of accounting as a major, entry into the profession, and ultimately 
achieving the CPA designation. Fulltime
graduate students (who are not CPAs) seeking a Master's degree in accounting 
or taxation and
students pursuing a Master's in business administration, if their 
undergraduate degree is in accounting, are

semester hours or equivalent of
college work, with at least six hours in accounting. All applicants must

American Mathematical Society (AMS)-Centennial Fellowship Program
The AMS Centennial Fellowship Program makes awards annually to outstanding 
mathematicians in an

American Political Science Association (APSA)-Minority Fellows Program
The Minority Fellows Program was established to increase the number of 
minority Ph.D. candidates in
the political science field. The program designates six stipend minority 
fellows, and additional applicants
who do not receive funds from the Association are recognized and recommended 
for admission and
financial support to every graduate political science program in the 
country. Fellows with stipends receive
a $4,000 fellowship. Applicants must be college seniors applying to a 
doctoral program in political

American Psychological Association (APA)-Minority Fellowship Program
The APA Minority Fellowship Program's objective is to increase the awareness 
of issues related to ethnic

American Sociological Association (ASA)-Minority Fellowship Program
Through its Minority Fellowship Program (MFP), the American Sociological 
Association (ASA) supports
the development and training of minority sociologists in mental health. 
Funded by a grant from the
National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), the Fellowship Program seeks to 
attract talented minority
students interested in mental health issues and to facilitate their 
placement, work, and success in graduate
programs throughout the U.S. Applicants can be new or continuing graduate 
students. However, the MFP
is primarily designed for minority students entering a doctoral program in 
sociology (with an emphasis on
mental health) for the first time or for those who are in the early stages 
of their graduate programs.
Fellows receive an annual stipend of $16,500, plus payment of their tuition. 
Funding may be extended for
up to three years. In addition, the program provides professional 
development training for the fellows in
conjunction with the ASA's Annual Meeting. Summer research internships are 
used to place Fellows in
projects at sites with major, ongoing studies in mental health.

Aspen Institute-William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship for Minority 
Students
The Nonprofit Sector Research Fund, a grant-making program of the Aspen 
Institute in Washington, DC,
annually offers the William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship. Through 
this program, the Fund seeks
to introduce a diverse group of students to issues relating to philanthropy, 
voluntarism, and nonprofit
organizations. The scholarship, which is based on academic excellence and 
need, is open to both
undergraduate and graduate minority students. In addition, the Hearst 
Scholar serves as a summer intern
with the Fund. A scholarship grant ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 will be

The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards scholarships to students who

College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) Scholarships

The College Assistance Migrant Program offers scholarships to students who 
are migrant or seasonal
farm workers and/or whose families work in agricultural activities directly 
related to the production of
crops, dairy products, poultry or livestock, the cultivation or harvesting 
of trees, or fish farms. Applicants

The Pathways to Success program awards scholarships to students in the ninth 
through twelfth grades so

Consortium for Graduate Study in Management-Fellowships for Talented

The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management is an alliance of eleven 
universities working to

Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund
Since 1961, the Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund has provided need-based grants 
to college students active
in building the movement for social and economic justice. More recently, 
grantees have been active in the
struggle against racism, sexism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression;

economic justice; and creating peace through international, anti-imperialist 
solidarity. The maximum

The New Horizon Scholars Program is a new scholarship offered in partnership

The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans provide opportunities 
for continuing
generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in

Recipients receive grants for up to two years of graduate study in the 
United States. Each year, a fellow
receives a maintenance grant of $20,000 (paid in two installments) and a

The Richard S. Smith and David W. Self Scholarships are awarded to United

The Jacob Javits Fellowship Program provides financial assistance to 
students of superior ability, as
demonstrated by their achievements and exceptional promise, to undertake 
study at the doctoral or Master
of Fine Arts (MFA) level in selected fields of the arts, humanities, and 
social sciences. The fellowship
consists of an institutional payment (accepted by the institution of higher 
education in lieu of all tuition
and fees for the fellow) and a stipend (based on the fellow's financial need 
as determined by the
measurements of the Federal Student Assistance Processing System). In 2002, 
the institutional payment
was $11,031 and the maximum stipend was $21,500. Applicants must be entering 
graduate students or
individuals who have not yet completed their first full year of a graduate

Young Epidemiology Scholars (YES) Competition
In an effort to raise awareness of public health and the field of 
epidemiology among our nation's students,
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awarded an $8.5 million grant to the 
College Board to develop a
national competition for high school students and teachers-the Young 
Epidemiology Scholars (YES)
Competition. The competition for original student research is designed to 
identify and inspire the most
talented and creative high school students. The competition is open to high 
school juniors and seniors
who apply epidemiological principles to a specified area of health. Student 
scholarships will total up to
$456,000 each year, including $50,000 college scholarships for each of two 
national winners. Students
must apply online.
