[Arizona-students] AABS monthly meeting

Hello all,
Just as a reminder, the monthly AABS meetings are small regional
gatherings designed for blind students living in a particular region of the
state to meet, socialize, network, and become more connected to the NFB.
Another purpose of the meetings is to build up active membership in these
areas in order to get larger and more diverse turnouts at our statewide
events (spring seminars and state convention).
Because of the regional nature of these meetings and their frequency, we
weren't planning on organizing any AABS-sponsored transportation for people
from other regions of the state to travel to and from the meetings. That
said, anyone is welcome to come to the meetings or to informally organize
transportation. If there are some AABS members who want to organize a
carpool of some kind and would like AABS to help with funding, just let me
know your plans and we can decide how best to fund the effort. But I believe
that we will use our resources most wisely if we reserve elaborate
transportation planning for our bigger, statewide events. To use an analogy,
these monthly meetings should be like chapter meetings, which are geared
toward a certain geographic region but are open to the public, and our
spring seminars are like the state convention, where we bring together
students from the various regions of the state.
As always, this is a work in progress, so we welcome any input on or off
list about how to make the most of them.
