The International Alliance for the Prevention of AIDS is a recognized non-profit NGO that was started by three students at the University of Arizona in
2004. This organization has devoted time and effort to combat the spread of HIV, and in case you were wondering, there is a way for YOU to help!
One important way to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS is by awareness; in a lot of foreign countries, HIV and AIDS is not a part of the basic educational curriculum.
This is where you come in.
IAPA takes a handful of students to Chennai, a city in southern India, over the summer to partake in a once in a lifetime experience. The volunteers chosen
teach HIV/AIDS awareness all over the city -- in schools, orphanages, and hospices. This 8-week long program teaches so much to the volunteers as well
as the students in India; this eye-opening experience is not something easily forgotten. As if being in a completely different country isn't enough, IAPA
and its volunteers go on many trips throughout the summer. This past summer, the program's inaugurating summer, volunteers traveled throughout India,
visiting the historic Taj Mahal as well as the sunny beaches of Kerala.
This could be the summer of your life. Exact dates are June 4th - July 27th. More in-depth informational sessions will be held throughout October and
November. For more information, you can visit the website at
