If Tony mentioned this, sorry for reposting.
We also had a lively discussion over a preposed amendment, which did not get
voted in, involving active vs. inactive members, on Saturday afternoon.
Otherwise, Tony hit the nail on the head, from what I attended.

Hope This Helps/hth,
Brandon McGinty

Subject: [Arizona-students] NFB State Convention

Hi all, I am going to send you some highlights about our NFBA State
Convention. I know most of you attended the convention, but for those who
were unable to attend, here are some highlights.

On Friday September 15, 2006, there was a workshop for ASDBHIGH school
students and they got to get some hands on demonstrations with the
KNFB-READER. After the demonstration, students and staff members from the
Colorado Center for the Blind talked ab
out the high school summer program.

There was a seminar for people who are diabetic and Doctor Maurer gave a
talk about what is the NFB and the Jernigan Institute.

In the afternoon, the Aabs Student seminar was held. Topics ranged from
testing accommodations to how blind students can work with the DRS offices.
There were even resource lists which students could get. The AABS was
raffling a Victor Vibe Reader.
The tickets were $2.00 per ticket. The State Boind meeting was held and a
possible amendment to the NFBA Constituttion was mentioned. The Resolutions
Committee met and one of the resolutions delt with the DRS offices.

On Saturday, we heard from both President Bob Kresmer and Doctor Maurer.
Other topics included what the latest development for of the digital talking
bok player which National Library Services (NLSEAIS going to be distributing
in 2008. NFB Newsline wa
s mentioned as well. Ed House talked about the latest developments at
Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA.)

Dick Monico the director for Arizona Industries for the Blind (AIB,) talked
about the latest devaropments. There were the breakout lunches and in the
afternoon, there was a presentation about the Past Present and Future of the
NFBA.

The CCB Stsaff and students gave a presentation. At the banquet we had 114
people registered and Doctor Maurer's speech was uplifting and inspiring.

On Sunday, we all heard from the other chapters and divisions as well as the
elections. Nola Baker-jones won theeast Valley Raffle and Samira won the
Victor raffle.
