[Arizona-students] ASU Data Bases?

Hello Allison and list,
I think that ASU updated its library site, which might explain some of
the difficulty. It sounds like you have already done the hardest part, which
is finding the database that you want. I have had similar problems with
getting the "Search" box to pop up. Some databases are unpredictable and the
search box only sometimes appears. Academic Search Premier is a particularly
consistent and accessible database, and it has a lot of full-text articles.
I'd recommend starting with that. (There is a direct link to the Academic
Search Premier after you click the "Articles" link on the main library
page).
Another tip with databases: Often you have to click the link with the
name of the database twice before the database actually loads. It's one of
those things that isn't obvious from looking at the page. So if you can't
find a search box, try finding a link with the title of the database.
Finally, I often bypass databases altogether and instead search by
journal. If you know what journal the article is in, you can find out if the
journal is available in E-text through the "Journals" link (from the main
page). Even if you don't know the journal title, it is possible to search
for a journal by subject.
Hope this helps, and others with experience with the ASU library site,
please share your experiences.
Arielle
