Subject: NCD's Youth Advisory Committee Wants Your School Transition
Story. . . Feel Free to Disseminate Quickly :)

Greetings!

This is a follow up to the youth inquiry on school transition that you
may have received in the mail or in electronic format. As indicated in
that previous correspondence, The Youth Advisory Committee for the
National Council on Disability is still interested in compiling the
perspectives of young people with disabilities for inclusion in data
gathered directly from youth with disabilities who had an IEP under the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act when they turned 16 years of
age.

The information will be used to shed light on questions about trends
and/or patterns of practice and policy. The Committee will share its
findings with NCD and make suggestions for consideration in the NCD
recommendations that could be made to the President and to Congress.

This message is for individuals who have not responded to the YAC School
Transition Inquiry and would prefer to e-mail a short version (one-page
limit, please) of your personal transition story/experience. We hope to
read about the wide range of school transition experiences that could
reveal what works and what do not work for young people with
disabilities moving from school to work, continued education and/or
training.

Please remember to e-mail us by next Friday, August 5, 2005 at:
YOUTH at NCD.GOV

You can also "Click reply" to this e-mail because it has the same
address: YOUTH at NCD.GOV

We look forward to your communication.

Thanks,

Dr. Gerrie Hawkins
