NASA Internships For Blind Students
Attention graduating high school seniors and current college freshman!
This summer, the National Federation of the Blind Jernigan Institute in 
partnership with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) 
is offering
an exciting new internship program.
Excellence through Challenging Experiences and Leadership (EXCEL)
WHAT: The EXCEL program provides blind graduating high school seniors and 
current college freshman a 5-week internship at three NASA Centers. Travel and
living expenses will be paid for. Six EXCEL interns will be chosen from a 
nationwide search, with two additional students chosen as alternates.
WHERE: Two interns will be placed at each of three NASA centers--Goddard 
Space Flight Center (Greenbelt, Maryland), Johnson Space Center (Houston, 
Texas),
and the Jet Propulsion Lab (Pasadena, California). A one-week orientation 
to the internship will take place at the NFB National Convention in Louisville,
Kentucky the first week of July.
WHEN: Orientation will begin on June 30th and the internships will end on 
August 14.
WHO: To be eligible for the program, you must be at least 18 years old at 
the beginning of the program and either a senior in high school who has 
been accepted
to college or a current college freshman who is interested in pursuing a 
career in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field.
