Subject: [nabs-l] MTV Casting Call

Dear Students:
MTV is again looking for blind youth (ages 16-28) who have an interesting
story to tell and would be interested in participating in their True Life
Series. I have been in contact with them, and they seem a little more
interested than last time. For those who sent in info last time, resend it!

Over 100,000 teenagers in the United States are blind but that doesn't stop
them from chasing their dreams.

Are you blind and living your life to the fullest? Are you about to use a
seeing-eye dog for the first time or make a big change in your life? Are you
currently
undergoing rehabilitation and coping with having recently lost your sight?
Are you starting a new job or going to the prom and aren't letting blindness
get in the way? Or are you or anyone you know planning to undergo a medical
procedure to have sight restored?

If you or someone you know fits this description, appear to be between the
ages of 16-28 and would like to share your story, please email True Life at
blind at mtvstaff.com.
Don't forget to include your name, location and phone.

Hi! I know that several of our students (myself included) responded to this
casting call. In fact someone contacted me one day, said they would call
back,
and never did. I am happy to help in any way that I can. I can post this
to our listserve and forwarded it along to students on our membership list.
I have read the casting call, but is there something specific you are
looking for?
Thanks!
Angela Wolf

Ms. Angela Wolf,

I am writing to you in reference to a project we are working on at MTV News
and Documentary. As part of our ongoing documentary series we are
researching
for a show called True Life: I'm Blind. We are hoping to document the lives
of students who are blind and still living out their dreams. We want to
show
our audience the ups and downs of being young and blind, the struggles as
well as the successes. Do you think any students from the National
Association
of Blind Students would be interested in participating in this project or at
least in speaking with us? I was hoping you would be able to circulate our
casting call (see below). Any information would be very helpful and greatly
appreciated.

Thanks So Much,
Lindsay
