Jewel:
The Mini donkeys are quite small; I believe they are under 36 inches. The
standard donkeys are under 14 hands and the mammoth donkes are over 14 hands.
People use the mammoth donkeys to breed with draft horses to get draft mules.
Most donkeys that I see are between 10 and 12 hands.
I'm kind of stuck on the name Jed. Jet would imply speed and so far haven't
seen that.
Have you ever seen the TV show Beverly Hillbillies?
One of the characters is named Jed, so thought it was a good name for a donkey.
Jed actually got here tonight; he was delivered around 6 oclock. He seems to be
settling in. He is in the larger pasture and the goats are in the smaller one.
I'm going to give them a few days to get used to each other before letting them
run together. Cruiser is still at the trainer, so they haven't met yet.
Not long after arriving Jed went to the east fence and did a wonderful donkey
bray and the neighbors cattle all ran over to take a look at him.
He loves peppermints and his old owners sent a bag of candy with him.
I think he's going to have lots of personality.
