Hi Jody
Wow, what a great question about the guiding and thanks for asking about the mini. She's on meds and will be for a while but she'll be ok.
Well, the thing is, I don't enjoy having guide animals. I had two guide dogs and couldn't stand it after a while. I don't enjoy the extra attention and I don't enjoy having to figure out what to do with them all the time when I'm out like relieving. The other piece is that I don't feel a guide mini is a really great choice for a number of reasons but most importantly is that you'd get lots of attention and you'd have a lot of access issues. You'd have to have a pretty small mini to guide and somehow, they are not as all about pleasing as dogs are. <smile> I guess I'm just the wrong person to ask because mme and my cane are tight. It doesn't eat much. It never has to go to the vet and best of all, it never lets loose any bodily fluids in my apartment or any other public place.
Great question though!
<smiles>
Michelle

Hi Michelle,
How is your mini doing? Is her breathing problem cleared up?
There was a discussion on the NAGDU list about guide horses. Have you ever considered training your mini to guide?
